“Meron pong finile ‘yung kanyang mga abogado na motion to quash ‘yung warrant of arrest, withdrawal of the information, and to reopen the preliminary investigation and release custody,” Labe said.
Aside from Naig-Miranda and another actress, some political figures were also implicated in the case for endorsing the company involved.
Labe said that due to their prominence, his clients trusted them with their investments.
Kasi national ‘yung scope nitong panghihikayat nila to the public to invest,” he added.
Nearly P1 billion were allegedly invested by hundreds of victims, who have also filed complaints against Naig-Miranda and her associates in various parts of the country.
Meanwhile, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said there is no special treatment for the actress.
“Limited lang po talaga ang space doon. Wala namang ibang paglalagyan kundi selda at nasa 150 PDL doon so nakasama na niya ‘yung ibang PDLs doon,” BJMP spokesperson JSupt. Jayrex Bustinera said.
“We have no further comment at this time. I will keep you updated when we have a statement ready,” Atty. Aureli Sinsuat, legal counsel for Miranda, said in a text message.
Naig-Miranda’s husband, Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda, earlier defended his wife, after her arrest.
Never nanloko si Neri, at never s’ya nanlamang sa kapwa,” Miranda said in a lengthy Facebook post.
“Never siyang kumuha or nanghingi ng pera kahit kanino man. Alam ng lahat ‘yan. Tulong lang s’ya (nang) tulong hangga’t kaya n’ya,” he added.
“Minsan kahit ‘di na nakakabuti sa kanya. Kadalasan nga, naaabuso na s’ya pero hinahayaan n’ya na lang, basta wala s’yang ginawang masama,” the musician said.
“Pinapa sa Diyos n’ya na lang. Tulad ngayon, endorser lang s’ya tapos ginamit ‘yung face n’ya to get investors. Kinasuhan s’ya ng mga nabiktima,” he added.
He also recalled that Naig this is not the first time that she was arrested but she still complied.
“Tapos last week, bigla na lang s’yang inaresto for the same case kahit hindi pa s’ya binigyan ng notice na may bagong criminal complaint pala laban sa kanya, and di n’ya na-defend ‘yung sarili n’ya,” Miranda said.
“Wala s’yang na-receive na letter from the prosecutor, walang subpoena, walang kahit anong notice.
