Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo on Thursday pleaded not guilty to material misrepresentation in her candidacy in the 2022 elections before a Tarlac Court.

Guo made her plea before the Capas Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 66.

“Arraignment of the accused as she attended through video conference and pleaded not guilty,” Atty. Nicole Jamila, one of Guo’s legal counsels, said in an interview.

In October, the Commission on Elections accused Guo of violating Section 74 of the Omnibus Election Code when she filed her certificate of candidacy for mayor in the 2022 polls despite supposedly being a Chinese citizen.

Guo was dismissed from her post as Bamban mayor in August.

Meanwhile, Jamilla said they are eyeing to post bail for Guo by next week.

“Bailable offense naman siya so ‘yun muna ang lalakarin namin. Magbe-bail muna kami for until next week. Aayusin lang namin ‘yung requirements and all,” she said.

(This is a bailable offense, so we will take care of that first. We will file for bail until next week. We will just gather all the requirements.)

Aside from the material misrepresentation case, Guo is also facing a qualified human trafficking case before a Pasig court as well as a graft case before a Valenzuela court.

A quo warranto petition was also filed against Guo with a Manila court, as well as a petition to cancel her birth certificate before a Tarlac court.

She is also facing a tax evasion complaint, 87 counts for money laundering, and a perjury and falsification complaint before the DOJ.
