The long-running primetime hit “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” surprised its loyal nightly viewers after a series of unexpected deaths and goodbye of some of the show’s key characters like Lena (played by Mercedes Cabral),
Noy (played by Lou Veloso) and many others.
ABS-CBN News caught up with the show’s lead star and director Coco Martin and he explained the sudden turn of events.
“‘Yun talaga ‘yung flow ng kwento. Kumbaga, hinog na siya. Gusto ko kahit December o kahit ano ‘yung okasyon gusto ko dire-direcho kasi buo ‘yung kwento eh, kasi ang dami naming interesting characters na dapat bigyan ng kwento eh,” Martin said.
During the holiday season, most programs would slow down in terms of storyline, but Martin wants something else. He said he still wants to go full throttle.
“Natutuwa kami kasi ‘yung ratings kahit December, ang ganda ganda nang binibigay sa amin na pagmamahal at suporta ng mga tao,” he said.
And that’s not all. Martin and his team are already preparing the big 2025 plans for the show’s upcoming second anniversary in February.
“Ibig sabihin nun, maganda ‘yung naibibigay nating kwento sa pagtutulungan ng lahat,” he said.
Martin thanked his parent network, ABS-CBN, all of its programs and subsidiaries for helping them out in promoting the show.
